The EPFL+ECAL Lab is proud to be one of the seven key partners behind VERTIGO, a European project which adds socio-economic value to industry through the integration of artists into ICT research and innovation teams.
Over three years, the project is coordinating and supporting 45 artistic residencies and hosting large-scale annual events to showcase the outcomes. It is also convening an extensive network of top artistic organisations from around the world including the Centre Pompidou, the V&A and the Venice Biennale.
With its experience in bridging design and innovation, the EPFL+ECAL Lab is developing a methodology to boost co-creation between artists and ICT research projects. This involves working on the information architecture, user experience and visual design for the new VERTIGO web platform to be launched in late 2017. This design solution enables effective communication between artists and ICT technologists, and also engages the public with the development and outcomes of the programme. In addition, the EPFL+ECAL Lab’s methodology creates a scalable and dynamic system for managing and showcasing information about artists, ICT-projects and residencies throughout the three-year project.
