PROJECTS

Collaboration between EPFL and ECAL started in 2002. The new EPFL+ECAL Lab now provides premises and infrastructure dedicated to innovation and educational projects at a crossroads between engineering, information technology, design and architecture.

Through their joint work in recent years - in particular in the fields of augmented reality, information sharing, industrial and object design or varying environments - both Schools have devised a strategy to foster cooperation at the interface between essential disciplines for innovation.

This strategy is characterised by a focused selection of projects, a pragmatic and coordinated approach to interaction and careful transfer of findings so as to increase their impact. All projects observe and fuel each discipline's own dynamics. They also contribute to students' education at various levels.

The EPFL+ECAL Lab selects its projects based on technologies developed by EPFL labs along themes defined by designers or challenges issued by partners from industry. Industrial partners can therefore benefit from the creativity of both Schools, integrated in a spirit of free exploration ripe with novel ideas.

Companies interested in cooperation may contact the EPFL+ECAL Lab direct. Collaborations range from a one-week workshop to long-term partnerships.
