EDUCATION

Education is one of the EPFL+ECAL Lab's core missions.  Three main trends are currently being developed:

• programmes to raise engineers' awareness to designers' work and help them understand the related dynamics, culture and language.
• workshops and lectures to enable designers to grasp emerging technologies and learn to work together with high-level scientists and engineers
• courses bringing together students from both schools around issues of common interest.  These generate particularly rich materials to undertake high-level research.

The EPFL+ECAL Lab is also developing continuing education curricula to be unveiled this fall. As a first step, these will be short on-the-job training modules.

Finally, the EPFL+ECAL Lab hosts and supports individual students' projects in the framework of a semester or master project which involves skills and cultural references at a crossroads between technology and design.

Approximately one hundred students already regularly attend events or lectures at the EPFL+ECAL Lab.
