Ghosts

After an extensive research into the interaction between the physical presence of a user and a virtual environment, Thomas Eberwein, in collaboration with Tim Gfrerer, created “Ghost”. A snow storm is raging within an abandoned, barren landscape. Inside this storm the viewer can make out a procession of human bodies which seemingly try to find their way out. These bodies are the remains of previous viewers of the installation, their ghosts, forever trapped in this hostile environment. “Ghost” automatically records short sequences of every viewer and adds them to the landscape. “Ghost” traps viewers, as they are looking into the landscape, they themselves become part of it, as they were looking upon the ghosts of previous visitors they became one of them.
